“Seeds” is a project conceived for the Sculpture Park in Santiago, Chile.

The proposal included the development of three forms placed directly on the grass, not intending a large-format execution but rather a relationship of scale with the environment and the park’s visitors. That is, the proposal considered a piece that was not distant from and independent of the observers but one that was part of the route, eliminating any possibility of using a base or plinth to force the viewers to raise their eyes to look at the work or that might generate some king of verticality.

The focus of this work is precisely on the possibility of installing a work of art or, in this case, deploying a plurality of “objects” as one more element within the landscape and not one that is foreign or decorative. That is, the work of art is installed as a landscape in itself, a generator of spaces without becoming a monolithic element that exceeds the human scale.

The pieces were laid out taking into account the park’s landscaping and paths, which is why the work considers placing trees at the site of the piece so that when these trees grow up, the “seeds” remain under its foliage, as if they had fallen from the trees themselves.
